Most of us wish we could sing like our favourite stars. At the same time, most people struggle to learn how. Others are afraid to commit to learning because they don’t know where to start. Even others have the skills and voice required, but perhaps not the stage presence. To help you accomplish your singing goals we’ve included 5 effective tips below on how to sing like a star!
Open Your Mouth
First things first, if you’re learning to sing you need to open your mouth properly—the same way as singers do. When singing you need to open your mouth a little wider than regular talking. To practise step in front a mirror, speak normally and then open your mouth a bit more.
Doing this will have a tremendous impact on how far your voice carries. The further your voice carries the better people will be able to hear you. If you decide to sing for an audience this will give you a better shot at success.
Sing With Confidence
Your audience will notice if you are singing with confidence. Confident singers sound more professional and experienced. It will make you stand out from other average singers.
When you are confident you will also be able to project your voice further and hold notes longer. So, focusing on building your confidence is just as important as your ability to sing.
Look Confident
Looking confident is important too. Just look at the stars, they all sing with confidence right?!
Practise your posture in front of a mirror. Are you standing tall or are you slouched over? To send off the best impression you should square your shoulders and stand nice and tall. People will notice your confidence and appreciate it.
Avoid Milk Before Singing
Consuming milk based products like ice cream can build up excess phlegm in your throat. You don’t want phlegm. Most singers consider it to be one of their worst enemies.
Phlegm can easily stick to your throat while you are singing. This can alter the sound your voice makes and irritate you. It is best to do everything you can to avoid getting phlegmy. So as delicious as ice cream is, don’t indulge right before your concert.
Warm Up
Warming up is another important step you shouldn’t skip. Without a proper warm up you can damage your vocal chords, which will prevent you from continuing on without your singing lessons in Manchester. Don’t rush or push yourself into a song straight away. Follow your singing tutor’s instructors carefully and be mindful of your vocal chords.
